An internship with us is ideal for anyone thinking about pursuing the practice of law or a career in engineering. Internships are a great way to learn about your field from a real word perspective and to put your teachings from school into practice. Internships are also a great way to build up your resume and gain the important experience needed to land your dream job in your dream field.
Our internships are particularly beneficial for law students and engineering students as we offer diverse experience in the intellectual property law field, whilst also tying in legal concepts and engineering concepts that are tailored to our interns interests. Our interns assist in all aspects of intellectual property, including patent and trademark research, provisional patent preparation and utility patent preparation (including claims drafting).
Our law student interns may also assist with patent and trademark application filing, case analysis for patent and trademark prosecution arguments, drafting of cease and desist and notice letters, factual investigation, and drafting of memoranda and briefs, while also helping with law office administration, client counselling, and the development of training materials.
U.S. and international law or engineering students and recent graduates of all levels are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in and enthusiasm for intellectual property (patents, trademarks, copyrights), contracts, along with excellent research and writing skills and the initiative and energy to see projects to completion in a fast-moving environment. A reliable personal laptop is required.
Our previous interns:
Kyle, a mechanical engineering graduate, was our intern from May 2017-August 2017. He now has a full-time position with us as a Junior Patent Consultant.
“I’m currently a senior in mechanical engineering who was referred to the Integrity Patent Group internship program through a fellow engineering student, and former Integrity intern. I am incredibly impressed with the internship program and all Integrity employees. When I initially started the internship, the first thing I noticed was how happy and welcoming everyone was. I felt like I had acquired a new family!
Working in the patent industry is very satisfying. Each assignment immerses me in a new world of deadlines, drafting and plenty of due diligence. As an engineering student, I love being challenged with new problems and learning new things. Every consultant at Integrity is highly knowledgeable and work flows with precision and efficiency. It is an absolute honor to be part of a team of such skilled and friendly engineers, artists and lawyers.
I highly recommend the Integrity internship program to anyone in an advanced degree program. This internship gave me the opportunity to gain school credit this summer while learning and working at my own pace. Now that I’ve been introduced to the patent industry, I can’t see myself doing anything else.”
Lauren, a law school graduate from the United Kingdom, was our intern from March 2016-September 2016. She now has a full-time position with us as a Senior Patent Consultant.
“I graduated from law school in 2015 and left with a passion for contract law and a desire to explore the legal field. I knew that an internship would be a great way to put my new degree into practice and gain some real world experience. I was lucky enough to get accepted for this internship and I couldn’t be more grateful. It has been everything I could have asked for and more. I have learned so much in such a short space of time – I’ve even written a set of claims for a utility patent! Before I joined Integrity Patent Group I hadn’t even considered intellectual property law as a field I wanted to go into…and now, it’s the only field I want to go in to.
Jeffrey and Edwin are great teachers with a lot of experience and have been there for me any time I needed them. The amount of care they have for the consultants and interns is apparent and it really shows through the morale of the team. The whole integrity team is so friendly and welcoming – which was especially important to me as I was in a new country trying to fit in. I quickly became part of the team and I know the intern after me will be welcomed with open arms and will feel part of the team too. It has been an amazing experience and I would recommend the Integrity Patent Group Internship Program to any fellow law school graduate.”
Michael, a mechanical engineering graduate, was our intern from May 2014-August 2014. He now has a full-time position with us as a Senior Patent Consultant.
“I was offered an internship with Integrity as a sophomore mechanical engineering student in 2014. I had the opportunity to work directly with Ed, learning the ins and outs of patent research, patent drafting, and prototyping. During my internship, I received hands-on experience working with a new invention that was currently being developed. Learning about the patent industry opened up an entirely new set of opportunities to branch out from traditional engineering work while also taking advantage of an engineering background to work with the technicalities of novel inventions.
Working with Integrity has been a unique and rewarding experience. The Integrity team is dedicated to the success of their employees and invests a huge amount of training into their interns. Ultimately, my internship experience led to me pursuing a career in the patent industry both during and after my undergraduate education.”
